Next meeting

The May 20th program will feature Mr. Ken Bucher as the keynote speaker. This program will be on his life in Littlestown and the struggles that he faced. Mr. Bucher has an interesting story to tell. This program will be held at the Methodist Hall at the rear of 50 East King Street in Littlestown. Time: 7:00 PM

Littlestown Area Histroical Society Welcome Center

In conjuction with the Littlestown Area Chamber of Commerce we have opened a welcome center to better serve the public and make it easier to make a connection with the community. Location - 1A on the Square - Check out our display window. Open Thursday and Friday from noon until 3:00 PM - Thursday evenings from5:00 PM untill 7:00 PM.

April 15th: (2008)
The April 15th meeting was held in the Methodist Hall. There were about 62 people present. Mr. Bruce Jakum was the keynote speaker on the subject of Kentucky rifle makers of the Littlestown Area, with an emphasis on the Sell family. Mr. Jakum had a sample of a rifle, powder horns and a bullet tool form the Kentucky rifle era.



What Historic Items are we looking for?
We are looking for anything that is connected with the history of the Littlestown area. This would include, books, pictures, documents, old marriage licenses, family trees, deeds, ledgers, products, sale promotions, equipment, bicentennial souvenirs, drawings, maps, etc. If you have pictures, we would ask that you have those in the picture identified. All items will be cataloged and stored in protective acid free containers, or displayed in a protective manner to ensure that the items are preserved. The person making the donation will be noted. We will not make appraisal of value. All Items donated may be claimed as a donation to Charity. We have our 501c3 Charity status, which measn you can claim donations as a tax deduction. If you would like to donate an item contact any LAHS board member.

Other items we need:
We are also in need of items for the purpose of the society. We will need a good color copier/printer, high res. scanner, a library table and chairs. We need small display cases to display items. We need a large capacity Computer and a Video Recorder. We need casset tape recorders. We need shelving. We need acid free containers for the storage of paper items. We need a LCD projector, and portable screen for presentation of Littlestown Area History Topics. We could also use the donation of funds for the previously listed items and for restoration of items. We also need a building for the storage of large items that we receive. We have a facility for the storage of documents and small items. We also have a fire proof safe for the storage of old documents. We have our 501c3 status approved by the IRS and any item you donate will be tax deductible.

We have received the color copier and Printer. We have recieved two computers and a Laptop Computer and a small display case. We have our desk and filing cabinets. We have received a video/DVD player and a color TV.
