Oldest Town in What is now
Adams County
| The oldest town in Adams County is difficult
to decipher. There are five towns that are very close in the dates
that they were laid
out. They are Hunterstown -1749, Abbottstown - 1755, East Berlin
- 1764, McSherrystown - 1765 and Littlestown - 1765. If you consider
the area that had someone settle in that area first then it would
be Littlestown with Andrew Shriver settling just outside of what
would become Littlestown in 1734. |
